R&D Support

What we provide is not contract processing or outsourced machining —
it is the establishment of a mass-production process.
New materials, microfabrication, uncharted processes. We offer an “R&D function” to transform what is “theoretically possible” into a verified physical phenomenon, then transfer it into a production system.

On Technical Complexity

When off-the-shelf equipment or standard contract machining can’t technically meet the challenge, Quantec provides processing support as needed, with the goal of process verification and establishment.
If you have a machining challenge that can’t be solved elsewhere, please reach out.

Workflow

STEP 01

Requirements Definition

Rather than simply receiving drawings, we conduct in-depth interviews to understand why the process is needed and what constraints exist in the surrounding production environment, then define requirements that are physically achievable.

  • Clarification of processing objectives
  • Material properties, tolerances, and takt time analysis
  • Confirmation of installation environment on the production line
STEP 02

Verification & Process Design (R&D)

For the defined requirements, we select the optimal light source and optical system. From a manufacturer-agnostic position, we identify the optically most suitable combination and process conditions, then perform verification through actual machining.

  • Selection of light source, optical components, and process conditions (wavelength, pulse width, power)
  • Process design based on light-matter interaction
  • Machining verification on real equipment
STEP 03

Reporting & Path to Mass Production

Deliverables are not just “processed samples.” We submit measurement data and verification reports — such as “feasible for mass production under these conditions” and “with this tolerance, expected cycle time is approximately X” — to provide a solid basis for equipment introduction and system integration decisions.

  • Sample evaluation (cross-section analysis, heat affected zone, dimensional measurement, mechanical properties, etc.)
  • Presentation of the process window (stable operating range)
  • Proposals for mass-production equipment and line construction
NEXT 04

Implementation

From verified process to real production line.

Processing conditions established through R&D cannot always be reproduced with off-the-shelf equipment. We procure and design the "optics and transport system" that reproduces the verified results, then implement them into your process as a custom mass-production system.

Resources

Running the machining alone isn’t enough to establish a reliable process.
We provide the optimal component sourcing and assignment, along with measurement and evaluation to confirm objectives are met.
