Quantec is a laser process engineering company based in Machida, Tokyo. We design and integrate laser processing systems from the process up — starting from material interaction physics, not from equipment catalogs.

Founded in July 2024 by engineers with deep roots in Japan's industrial laser industry, Quantec was built on a single conviction: that most laser processing challenges are not hardware problems. They are process design problems.

How Quantec Came To Exist

Hideo Jotaki spent years in the laser industry before founding Quantec — at a European laser equipment manufacturer, and later at a Japan-based company with some of the deepest process expertise in the industry.

Across both, he saw the same problem: manufacturers who had invested in laser equipment could not get consistent results. The hardware worked. The process hadn't been properly designed.

Quantec was founded in July 2024 to be the company that designs the process first — and builds the system around it.

Philosophy

We believe laser processing is still significantly underutilized in manufacturing — not because the technology is immature, but because the expertise to deploy it correctly is too rare.

Our goal is to close that gap. Through process-first design, we aim to make laser processing a standard part of manufacturing — not a specialized capability reserved for the few.

Where We Work

Quantec operates from three locations in the Greater Tokyo and Tokai regions. Our Application Labs in Sagamihara and Hamamatsu are equipped for process evaluation, proof-of-concept testing, and production validation — from initial material assessment through confirmed mass-production conditions.
